I had the oportunity to work in Sweden on a controls system upgrade at a nuclear power plant. I found a motorcycle shop in Varberg which was owned by a fellow Canadian. They were very helpful and I was able to rent an 1100 Yamaha Dragstar on a monthly basis. This has allowded me to explore the countryside which I do at every oportunity.

The roads are very well maintianed and I was impressed with how neat and clean everthing was. No litter, and even the farms had no junk piles or old vehicles or equipment. rock walls were everywhere around homes and fields. There is quite a bit of rain so everything is lush and green.

There were places that the trees grew right over the roads, you were riding through a green tunnel. The country has a lot of lakes and rivers. There are old stone bridges and cottages.

The are roads everywhere from divied 4 lane down to little country roads only wide enough for one car at a time. Most are paved and in good condition. There is a lot of kite surfing along the coast.

I didn't see any windmills when I flew into Amsterdam but I found one in Sweden. There were a lot of buildings like the one on the right. I don't know what it is but it looks like it may have been a windmill at some time.

Every community was so pretty you can tell they take pride in their homes and communities.

There were a lot of parks and green spaces. They were all mowed and trimmed with hedges and lots of flowers. I came across several castles as I rode the back roads.

There were old churches every where they were usually surrounded by cemetaries. The grave stones dated back to the 1600's.

The date on this church was 1671.

I never saw anyone doing yard work but the yards were beautiful.
